Hi,

The division of assets in GA is a separate issue from support entirely. GA is an equitable distribution state which means that on divorce, assets are divided without regard to title on them...houses included. Regardless of how the asset(s) are divided, the court then addresses the issue of spousal support, child support, visitation, etc. So based on your respective incomes, the answer is yes if you show that you earn less, need to retrain to enter the work force, consider the possibility of having minor children still to care for, and all other relevant factors.
