There is no formula for setting the amount of spousal support in Alabama. It lies entirely at the discretion of the trial court. Spousal support is to be granted only on the showing of the need by one party along with the ability of the other to pay. The facts to be considered in determining alimony include the parties’ respective earning ability and future prospects, their ages and health, the length of the marriage, the value and type of property, and the conduct of the parties
