after borrowing my car, a friend incurred 4 tickets and broke my drivers side mirror, they have not yet paid, and because my name is technically at stake, I need to pay the tickets and get the mirror fixed, after I do this, can I sue him for the amount?

Optional Information:
Evanston, Illinois

Already Tried:
asking when it will be taken care of, and the response is always two weeks, until i was asked to pay it and it will be given back to me and my theory is that their motive is to have me pay period and forget about it because they never plan to pay, and the person is a drummer who plays almost every night, works at two health clubs, and kids go to private school.

Hello,

Yes you can. You are correct you need to pay the tickets, and also correct you can sue them.

For the driver side mirror make sure you get at least two quotes prior to having it repaired, as this will give you solid support in a law suit.

Also try to get some proof that your friend had the car during the time of the four tickets. Send them a certified mail with a bill for the three tickets and a copy of the mirror quote. Give them 30 days to pay and if not you reserve the right to go to small claims court.

I hope that helps.

Good luck.
