(Not a Legal Question?)

does my spouse need to know he has a restraining order against him
Sent to Legal Experts May 24 11:32 PM

My husband and I have filed for divorce and are living in separate residences. He has been calling and e-mailing me repeatdly. Now he has been calling my place of employment to find out when I work. He showed up outside and demanded that I speak with him. Keeping my distance. I told him that I would call security if he did not leave. He finally agreed to leave, but said if i changed my number or made it difficult for him to contact me or contacted security "there would be consequences".
There has been a history of verbal abuse and two incidences of "grabbing/hair pulling" on his part during the course of our marriage (reasons why I filed for divorce) and I am worried about him knowing I am filing a restraining order. Does he need to know I am filing for one?

Thank you for your response.

He is first served with a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) which is enforced until a hearing is set for a permanent order. The TRO is given immediately, but the permanent one he can object and contest. If the permanent one is granted, then that order is permanent.
