If the deceased owns real estate or personal property in Alabama, then you should file the will in Alabama. My suggestion is to file the will in the state with the most assets of the decedent or the state that has the most contacts with the decedent. The state where the will was last adjusted and filed seems to have a number of important contacts to the will. If that is the state where the will was filedIf the person died in Florida, but lived his or her entire life in Alabama, then file it in Alabama or the state with the most contacts. I hope that I have answered your questions.

I hope that I have helped, answered all of your questions, and that I have provided you with useful information. Please contact me if I have not answered all of your questions. If my answer is satisfactory please accept it. I really appreciate positive feedback.

Dear JD, You must be a good person to help those of us who are short on funds. My husband is a doctor. Over 2 yrs ago a county detective who hates doctors charged him with a crime using a statuate we 2 yrs later found did not apply to doctors. She and the DA knew he was totally innocent and destroyed our lives. He makes 72% less than ever before. Even though the case has been dismissed BC refuses to allow him to be a provider again, and the med bd. refuses to refund the $22K fine and the restriction on his licence. Employers think he is a criminal and cannot get a normal paying job. We are still going through hell. What do you suggest?

I suggest that you consult with a lawyer about possible action against the detective and possibly the medical board. I cannot estimate your chances of success, but those are the only options that I have at this time. Good luck.
