What are my rights in joined owner house?
Sent to Legal Experts May 28 12:49 PM

I owned a house with a partner. Both of us are married and I have a 4 years old daughter. We agreed that on August whoever offers a greater price for the house will get to stay. My partner just told us 2 days ago that they already bought a new house and ready to move out in June. The 2 rooms that they used before will be rented to 2 single people. I disagreed with their decision due to the safety of my family, especially my daughter. I live in las vegas, nevada.. Lots of people here are gambling and criminals, yet I have no information or any background check on them. They will move in less than 2 weeks from now. I would like to know what are my rights under this house. If there is no permission from me, can these people rent the rooms (I have nothing to do with the renting money). My husband tried to explain to the other partner that he is very concern about my safety and my daughter safety. They told us that it is none of their bussiness and they don't care. Please help! Thank you.

Me and my friend have our name on this house. My friend moved out and he is trying to have 2 strangers comes in and rent his 2 rooms (we have 3 bedrooms) I give him and his wife 2 rooms because they first said that their mom wants to live with them as well. I am still live here in this house since we agreed to wait until this August to see who will offer the greater price to buy back this house. We live in a community associate with gated. I don't think that everyone can have a copy of my house key to get in my house without my permission

On our paper work of this house, me and my friend are the owners of the house. My husband, and his wife do not have their names on the house, but we all live in this house. The paperwork that I sign for this house did not mention about renting the house. Our community associate are not allowed to have the house for rent on 1st year only (it's our 2nd year now)

do you know any attorney in las vegas, nevada that I can contact. I just got the noticed from my friend 2 days ago. They will move out this week. Next week will have some strangers come in our house. I could not get a hold with any attorney due to Memorial weekends. Thanks so much for your information. I was scared because a real estate agent said that since they own half of the house, they do have the permission to rent the rooms, if I am not agree, then I have to pay their other half. That is not true right?

My answer was based upon principles of real property law....rights of co-owners of real estate in a situation such as yours. Plus if there is disagreement, despite your existing agreement about the highest bidder in August, you could bring a lawsuit to force a sale of the property and divide the proceeds.
