I recently agreed to do an extension on my proper with a certain company, who quoted me a price to the amount of 15,000 pounds. Subsequently, on the 1st of November I received a letter from the company offering to carry out the work for the agreed amount. In the letter the company made it clear that the offer is open for acceptance within 28 days. On the 21st November 2005 I wrote to the company accepting the offer to carry out the work for 15000 pounds. But the letter only arrived to the company on the 30th of November according to the company. I would assume it was lost in the post. Now they are saying because I sent the letter late they are willing to still carry out the work but has made a different offer for 17,500pounds.
Please advice me on if I can insist upon the company doing the work for the original price of 15000 or weather I am bound to pay the new price.
