I am being sued on a civil matter. I have no property but I have 2 automobiles and a small bank account. What can be done to me? The amount I am being sued for is $7,500 in the magistrates Court in SouthCharolina It has to do with remodeling a bathroom.

Hello,

If they are granted the judgment they can ask that one of the automobiles or the bank account be seized. Typically unless the vehicle is worth more then the judgment this will not be seized. The bank account can be levied.

In most judgment the creditor asks for a garnishment of your wages. Typically these are approved unless you can show the judge that a garnishment would be a hardship for you. If this is the case, then the judgment will be granted with no action.
