I signed a contract in about May 2001 for garbage

I signed a contract in about May 2001 for garbage sevices to get a small dumbster for a constuction progect in a residential area that I figured would take about 3 years. The salesman who came out and signed me up told me that in order to get the service I would have to sign a contract for one year and any time after that I could call and cancel me sevice. Well the project went on longer than I expected and in august of 2007 I called to cancel, and sent emails with no responce. Finally I sent a registered letter, and got a response from a costomer service rep who told me that my contract automatically renewed every 2 years in May and that the only way to cancel it was to wait until May of 2008 and notify them 30 days in advance and they would terminate my contract. In Febuary of 2008 I began sending them Emails as I was instructed to do with no responce so I sent a certified letter. Then I get a letter back stating my contract doesn''t expire till 2010.
