The U.S. Social security Administration changed my home address without my permissioin and mailed (USPS) my wife''s Form 1099 to a strangers address on two occasions.   This 1099 included her SSN, her wages and other personal information that will jeopardize her privacy and may make subject her to identity theft. What can I do to remedy this and also to determine how it happened and prevent it from happening again.

The SSA was told to change our mailing address. They told me that when I called them yesterday. What I really need to know is who was at the alternate address.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

This why I suggest you contact the AG, FTC, and SSA Inspector General through the links I provided above. If you did not request the address change then these agencies can begin to investigate to find out who did and why, these complaints can begin the process of "finding out who." If you also follow the steps indicated by the FTC on their website, which include filing a police report, you can also begin to protect your identity and that of your wife's from further abuse.
