If the Medical Examiner has indicated that there is no need of an autopsy then I would ask myself the following.

Did the person have a history of illness. (if yes then this may vary on decision to do autopsy or not)

Did the person die sudden and unexpected.

Are there suspicions around the death of the individual.

Was there no medical persons present at the time of death.

If the answers are yes to any or all of these then it would warrant an autopsy.

If the ME is not wanting to do one then you at your expense unless under suspicious circumstances would need to have an independent autopsy done outside of the ME's jurisdiction.

If you have concerns on the death and/or other questions then please reply. I will be glad to assist.

Reply to 4ren6's Post: This is a hypothetical question for extra credit. My understanding from your reply is that if their a no suspcious circunstances a familys only other choice is a independent medical exam at their expense is that correct?
