my son did a home paternity DNA test with a company called LONDON BIOSCIENCES how does he know that this company is genuine

They are a legitimate and qualified company well known both in the UK and the US. They are certified and have done both forensic and paternity court testimony in the US. I am through my work very familiar with this company in the area of DNA testing and Forensics. I would not question any test results coming from them.
