I live in Texas and have a living will and a durable power attorney for medical care in Texas. I am living temporarily in Alabama and want to have a new living will and appoint a close friend (who lives in Alabama) to be my durable power of attorney for medical care. While in Alabama and when I return to Texas. Would these documents drawn up in Alabama be legal in Texas or should I draw up one in Texas and one in Alabama to be safe?

It is best to have a power of attorney drawn to include the applicable laws of each respective state as each state has different laws regarding health issues. You can have one drawn up but make sure it covers both laws or if it is feasible for you then have each one drawn up in each state.
