There was a story on our news tonight about collections companies now taking people to Justice of the Peace courts and suing them. A lawyer made a comment about a case he was defending that he makes the company prove it. He contended the debt was too old, falling outside a four year statute of limitations. My question is due these limitations go for all debts?

THIS QUESTION SHOULD GO TO SOMEONE IN LEGAL NOT FINANCES--SORRY

I have a couple of unsecured debits that are over 4 years old that they keep getting sold to different collection agencies--and the agencies are not in the state of Texas. Do I send them the letter and how to I keep this debt from being "bought" again by another agency.
I have also been told ---in my threating calls--that since the agency was NOT in Texas they did not have to follow Texas laws only the laws they were in--for example telling me they were going to file a law suit to take money from my bank account

Usually a request to have it removed can be out in 7 years and 1 day after the last payment was made the credit bureau will remove the creditor and that score will improve.

Good luck. If you have any other related questions please let me know. If you found this answer helpful please accept so I can continue to help others like you in the future. Thank you.
