The legal age of majority in North Carolina is 18. This means that you can make adult decisions when you are 18. However, the young mother should not be precluded from making decisions for her baby unless the court has designated a guardian for the baby. Further if the minor has been emancipated by the court, she will be considered an adult and can make decisions for the benefit of her baby. Emancipation information can be obtained
