My mother died last Dec.29,2006. She saw her doctor in Oct.

My mother died last Dec.29,2006. She saw her doctor in Oct. also in Nov. We know my mom would not usaualy see her doctor unless she felt it nessasary. She died of double lung pneumonia. We as her daughters have many medical questions and would like to see her chart. We had my dad fill out the proper forms and sent them back to the doctor.She called us back two weeks later after my sister had to bug them and said she would have to speak to her lawyers before she could hand over my moms chart.Nobody has ever ask for a chart for someone that has past before. Are we intitled to these medical records?

Your mother's husband has a legal right to the records and will be given copies. The doctor's office has a legal duty to provide medical records to surviving spouses or children if the children are representing the estate. The office is presumably checking with counsel, but they do have a legal requirement to provide the information. Good luck.
