I faxed a copy of 3 patients EOBs to the lawyer of a billing company we are no longer using. It was meant as an example of coding errors. I'm new to the office and didn't realize i needed to block out pt. information, since our biller already has that information. Am I in deep trouble?

Jonathan...I live in Crested Butte colorado. I've tried nothing.

As I said, I faxed patient EOB's to our biller's lawyer. It's information she would have anyways, but her lawyer wouldn't have it unless she shared it with him.I am trying to settle a coding dispute with the biller.

I think I may face a one hundred dollar civil fine, per occurance (3 names.) Certainly ??? no criminal intent.
