Question

My son is on a competitive baseball little league

Sent to Legal Experts June 09, 2007 2:49 a.m.

My son is on a competitive baseball little league team. He was part of a fund raiser that earned a total of $1000. The day after the fundraiser, the coach and I (his dad) had a falling out. I questions his coaching ability, and stated I didn't want my son associated to him. Technically never quiting the team, nor did he say my son was off the team. Question - Do I have any leagal rights to the money raised during the fund raiser?

Since my son is still on the team, I believe he should still take part in the proceeds. Once agian, there is no record of my son quiting, or the coach "firing" my son from the team. Not sure why my son is not eligable for the benefit of the fund raiser?

The team controls the proceeds, not any particular player or his parent. If there is a question as to whether your son is on the team he certainly benefits from the proceeds. If the issue is whether or not your son is on the team, that is an issue that must be taken up with the athletic organization. That seems to be the issue here. Neither he nor any parent has the right to fund raiser proceeds.
