How do I file a civil lawsuit against someone who owes me money? They also broke into my house. I believe that this will help to win my case. Thank You.

To file a small claims case (when someone owes you between $1800 -$3500 depending upon your state laws)...

Simply go to your local county court house & speak with the clerk of the court...

Fill out papers with your complaint and pay the fee (usually around $35.oo).

You should have all the info about the person you are suing auch as name & address so you can have the sheriff's department deliver your notice (sometimes costing an extra $10.oo or so).

When you go to court...be factual, take evidence such as police reports and correspondence, and state exactly how & why the person owes you the money.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this. I have sued successfully many times and it's meant to be a rather informal process.

Good Luck! And please remember to click the 'ACCEPT' button if I answered your question...and/or...provide more details.

Ok. The person lives in a different county than I do. Do I file it in the city in which I live or the county in which the person lives? Thank You. I will accept the answer.
