To file a small claims case (when someone owes you between $1800 -$3500 depending upon your state laws)...
Simply go to your local county court house & speak with the clerk of the court...
Fill out papers with your complaint and pay the fee (usually around $35.oo).
You should have all the info about the person you are suing auch as name & address so you can have the sheriff's department deliver your notice (sometimes costing an extra $10.oo or so).
When you go to court...be factual, take evidence such as police reports and correspondence, and state exactly how & why the person owes you the money.
