(Not a Legal Question?)

Am I entitled to a full refund if I return goods to shop?

Item bought from Past Times just prior to Christmas 2005. Intended to be given as a Christmas present but it became a birthday present and was used in late Feb 2006. The gift was unwanted so I returned it to the Past Times shop where I originally purchased the item in Liverpool. I expected to receive a full refund as I had my original receipt (payment had been made by debit card) and the item was unused and just as I had purchased it. I was informed that I was only allowed a full refund if the item had been purchased within the past 28 days (this is written on the reverse of the original receipt) and that I would have to accept a Gift Voucher (only redeemable at Past Times) instead.

Is this legal? or am I entitled to a full refund?

Regards,

Andy
