Is it illegal for a married police officer to have an affair?

A Police officer that is sworn to serve and protect the public is married and having an affair with a woman who didn't even know he was married, is this illegal? I am the woman that he has been cheating on his wife with, what course of action should i take? Optional Information: Chesterfield, Michigan

First of all brake up with the man, because he is married. Second of all yes in most states adultry is still illegal but the laws are never enforced. There is no legal recourse, execpt that you could take him to civil court for mental distress, but it will probly not hold up and just cause more stress then anything else.
