Hello. Thanks for tackling my question:
When an American citizen is deported from Japan, he is sent back to the USA. I know he cannot legally go back to Japan - at least for many years - but how about other countries? What kind of restrictions are placed on any international travel for people who have been deported back to the USA? Does it depend on what country he was deported from?

There should not be any restrictions on travel out of the US. The US doesn't care where you go, the country of origin will decide if they allow you to obtain a travel visa.

The only time the US will get involved is if US laws have been violated due to the deportation from Japan.

Japan allows you back in 5 years as an aside.
