is it legal for the lawenforcement to search a private storage unit and remove personal belongings and etc. which were not listed on the search warrant.

Usually not - but it depends on what item(s) was/were found...However, in most cases, criminal attorneys can fight this to show that the law enforcement agency was in violation.
