My granddaughter's biological mother, by her own admission in writing, used crystal meth prior to her pregnancy and the first three months of her pregnancy. That wasn't bad enough, but my beautiful, precious granddaughter was born with a distracted jaw and a cleft pallate and other complications. Would this be considered child endangerment, punishable by law as a felony? We live in Ga. Thank you for providing information on this. I am very concerned.

Reply to Lawmoe's Post: My granddaughter was born in January of 2003. Her biological mother confessed verbally in April 2004, and in writing in June or July 2004.

That long after the fact it is extremely unlikely that the matter would be charged out. It would be a difficult case to win since any medical evidence would be diluted. If anything new comes up related to the mother's care of the child, you may be able to couple that with more recent allegations to report it to child protection.

If there has been no recent evidence of meth use, there is not likely anything viable presently.

How in the world if you have an admission in writing is it past the fact? She admitted that she used while pregnant. It's absurd that she should get away with this.

I do appreciate your response. However, in my opinion, it is a crime unpushished and it is not acceptable.
