Hi, I have a greencard and have been in the US for 4.5 years. I qualify for citizenship in June but my work has asked me to move to London to work there for a few years. Can I actually obtain my citizenship while abroad? thanks.

Hi

I am afraid not. The US Immigration requires you to have residence in the US at least 6 months and 1 day of each year during the application and acceptance process. You would be better off waiting till after your stint in London to apply when you are back in the US full time FYI - they use your employer as a "reference of locater" in order to ensure you are in the US during the application and acceptance period.

Good luck. If this helps please accept this answer so I may continue to help others like you.
