Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy),
At the age when a child is "of sufficient age and reason" the judge is supposed to listen to what the child has to say about where he/she wants to live. The judge does not have to go by that, though. The judge (court) makes the final decision. Realistically, the older the child gets (teens) the more say they have, because it just becomes too difficult to make them live somewhere they do not want to live.
