Question

I recently left my job with a Macy's Department store ...

Sent to Legal Experts July 22, 2007 11:51 a.m.

I recently left my job with a Macy's Department store which I had been there almost two years. I really liked my job and hated leaving but finally had enough. A fellow employee on numerous times came to work "high." One day she came to work really late, and by her behavior you could tell she was under the influence of something. That day I was really scared to be even working with her, as she was stumbling into the cash wrap stand, into the walls and other areas of the stockroom. Dropped shoe boxes on another employees head. She was a mess on the selling floor. Myself and the other employees didn't know what to expect next from her. I want to know if there is something I can do about this because I don't feel that it is fair for me to have to leave a job that I like and had security in just because of someone else's behavior. Behavior I might add that never was done anything about. That day managers observed her but let her stay at work. To me she was a danger to everyone.

Already Tried:
nothing yet as I have been away from my job there for 2 weeks now with a feeling of not knowing what to do because I do like my job and that is my income to support my children. To my knowledge she is still there. My manager told me the 16th of July 2007 her time was up because her probationary period was over and now she could do something about her.

Did you file a formal complaint with the emloyer?

Is your employer willing to hire you back?

I'm not sure if she would be willing to hire me back being I just walked out that day. She did like my job performance, she knew I worked hard, got along well with others, and did my job. Yes she was aware of everything going on with this employee, as was other management heads and the store manager, and operations manager. To me something should have been done concerning this employee, instead of letting her continue in her ways, she came to work when she wanted to sometimes not calling it, was late, and she even stole from fellow employees, me being one of those. Anyway she has only been there 3 months.
