I am a math teacher and driver education teacher and have been for 12 years. I am DMV certified. All of the DMV certified DE teachers were given huge pay cuts, but the DPI were not. I referred my employer to NC GS 20-88.1 which states I should be paid on my teacher salary. They agreed and told all of us that we would be paid back pay for the time we had been working on the reduced pay level. We were even told to change our W-2 forms. When the pay day came, we weren't given the back pay and was told it was because they had discovered from someone at DPI that they didn't have to pay us on our teacher salary.
