Back in October of 2007, my son had a couple of friends over. They started wrestling and one fell on my dog, at which point he bit her. The parent is a police officer and he filed a dog bite report. My dog is not current on his rabies shots. I just received a notice to appear in county court because I did not have my dog put in for 10 day observation. Since neither my dog or the girl bitten have had any indications of rabies infection, is it still necessary 4 months later to go for observation, or would I be able to have my dog vaccinated and show that to the court. I also want to say that I have had this dog since he was a puppy for 9 years and this has not happened before or since.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy) - I think it would be a good idea to have proof of vaccination before you go to court however it may not prevent a fine since you violated a statute prior to this. I can't imagine that they would order a 10 day quarantine at this point but you will still most likely be fined. Proof of a new vaccination would probably help mitigate the situation.
