The company I own is All Reel Images, LLC aka All Reel News. My question to you is am I able to have my own website with this name? I cover a lot of news events on a freelance basis & would like to separate the news I cover from other events. As a freelance photojournalist I own the rights to the photos & videos. If I get compensated for the photo & or videos submitted to the paper I have to get permission before I could reprint. If on the other hand I get my work published by a news source "courstesy of", I have full control. Because, there is so much that I do that dosen't appear in the above mentioned, I would like to have a website dedicated to the news side of my business. When applying for the LLC, I purposely did an aka All Reel News in the event I would want to do a website specifically on news. My concern is I don't want to misrepresent myself since I don't have a press pass, nor, would I even know how to set up a news business where one would apply for the press credentials.

I ran a domain search for both All Reel Images and All Reel News and both domains (.com) are already taken. So as a practical matter, rather than legal, you can't have a website with that name unless you purchase the domain. You can run your own search and see if other alternatives are taken here.

Is your concern that the term "news" is confusing or misleading? I don't think it is a problem. There is no restriction on the word "news."

So let's look at the corporate filing. The LLC is filed in New Jersey. Did you also file a ficticious name registration? In New Jersey that is called registering an alternate name and I've provided a link. You will want to register your alternate name: All Reel News.

As to setting yourself up as a website/photojournalist/news site, you can start to seek out press credentials by filling out press inquiries for local events. Is there a fair coming up or a trade show? Their press offices usualy welcome the "coverage" of the event and would gladly extend a press pass if you do a good presentation and fill out the paperwork.
