How do I escape from a 5 yr contract with my propane supplier? The contract was signed 9/05 and their prices have risen considerably since then. I do not own the tank but did pay to have it installed.

New Lebanon, New York

Already Tried:
Talked to salesman who originally singed me, talked to the company manager

Before we start.

What are the termination considerations listed in the contract?

Is there any caps put on fuel cost increases? You are renting the tank, what is the tank rental price?

Was it a one time fee, or is it re-occurring?

We'll start with these and go from there.

Reply to Jon's Post: no cap on price increases, just a quote on current price in '05. no tank rental fee. Termination considerations for failure to fulfill terms by either party with written notice

What are your terms? Theirs seem very simple. To fill you tank when instructed, or periodically. What I am asking, is there any way written in your contract that would allow you to break it? Or is their some type of penalty for doing so? Currently you have a written contract, and are stuck to it unless we can find an out. For instance, if you were to sell your house, how would you get out of the contract. Do you simply have to give them written notification that the house is being sold and that you expect them to remove the tank by a specific date?
