After extremely long child support modification procedure in

After extremely long child support modification procedure in NY Supreme Court, my ex filed an appeal for several judge’s decisions. My ex also successfully filed for bankruptcy and is now using Bankruptcy court decision in his appeal related to child support modification.
The lengthy proceedings exhausted me financially; I have to pay to bankruptcy attorney and I am paying but still am in deep debt to my attorney in Supreme Court.
My Supreme Court attorney refused to represent me for the appeal, pointing to huge amount of outstanding fees I owe and the fact that the retainer agreement excluded appeal-related services. He says I should either obtain another attorney or represent myself.
I cannot afford another attorney and I cannot represent myself because I am very busy at work and home as I am the only supporting parent for my two children. Also, I do not know law to write opposing papers.
Please kindly give me an advice how to better handle this situation. where to seek help?

Thank you for your answer but, as I mentioned, I already tried to find pro bono attorney and, unfortunately, it did not appear that I could obtain pro bono appellate counsel. Pro bono programs do not provide attorneys for appeals; they only apply to relatively simple divorce cases.

Could you please tell me what else can I do in this situation?

If I ask the Supreme Court or Appelate Division judge to appoint an attorney for me because of such difficult circumstances, do you think there is a chance he appoints one?
