what happens when the courts are trying serve a person papers and they keep dodging the processor and court is right around the corner?

I am a legal secretary/paralegal with 28 years experience in the State of California.

What kind of hearing is this? I can't tell you for certain what will happen in your case, until I have this information. However...........

At times, the papers can be sub-served...meaning the process server can leave the papers with a competent member - this is legal...thus, it's considered valid service.

Or, depending upon the hearing, if unsuccessful service, the hearing is postponed....or, service is made through publication(newspaper).....

I do need to know what kind of hearing this is in order to provide you with an appropriate response. Please let me hear back from you.

It is a child custody hearing on the 28th. My ex knows about the court date, but she has not been served yet. They hav'nt been able to locat her.
