loaner car saga continues with a 'new' bill

Sent to Legal Experts August 05 10:41 AM

what do you do when you take your car in for repairs, servicing, and the auto dealer completes those repairs, bills your AMEX card, then discovers that more repairs must be made? After that, he makes those repairs, in their 'body shop', does not tell you that more must be done, only that they want to 'check it out'. They don't tell me the car must now go to another area of their service dep't, namely their "body shop", and expects payment, separately from the original bill, already paid for, and won't release car until this new bill is covered? I took my car into BMW's service dep't for work on my front wheel area in March. In April, they billed AMEX and received payment for that job which was supposedly 'completed'.That was why I took the car in-job done-all authorized up to this point. Now in August, they decide that there is another bill, because the car had to go into their body shop. They said that someone heard 'sounds' after the then completed, and paid for job was done. They did not ask me if this was what I wanted them to do for me, nor did they tell me that my car was going into their 'body shop' in order to finish the job. Mind you, they were already paid in full, up to that point. I now am told that my car must now be paid for from that dep't before they will release my car. I was informed of this body shop issue after the job was done, not before, and did not receive an estimate of how much it would cost me before the job was begun, either. I wrote earlier, in July, about my BMW at the dealership, being held because of my nephew and their loaner car accident. As an easy resolution, they asked me to wait until they received a check from their insurance company, for that loaner car, then they'll release it to me. I did! Now that they will release the car to me, I have a new bill. By the way, the original bill was paid for by my(ex) fiance, using a 'photocopy' of his AMEX card, yet they won't do the same to pay the bill at their body shop,if I should pay at all, this time. It's almost as if I brought my car in to them at two different times. That's not the case- my car has been with BMW since March 29th 2005, and is still with them- even after the loaner car return issue has been 'resolved'. what do I do? Are they playing with me, or what?I am still maintaining lease and insurance payments on this 2004 BMW 325i, that I haven't driven since March. Help!!!!

If you did not give them permission to perform the work on your car I would dispute the charge with your credit card company.

While a charge is under investigation, you are not responsible for paying it.

Reply to Mandy Webb's Post: the already billed charges are not in dispute. It's the new unpaid bill that I have an issue with , that has my concern right now. Do I have to pay these new charges?

Reply to Mandy Webb's Post: they don't want to bill amex; they just want to get paid in general
